Second Sky, the science fiction and fantasy imprint of Bookouture, has acquired five new romantasy titles by Kaylie Smith, the author of Phantasma (Bookouture/ Forever).
Consultant associate publisher Jack Renninson acquired world English rights from Emily Forney of BookEnds Literary Agency. Bookouture will partner with the Forever imprint of Grand Central Publishing to release simultaneous print editions of Smith’s titles in North America.
Two new books set in the world of Phantasma are scheduled for September 2025 and September 2026, while Smith will also begin a new series of three books in summer 2026. Titled Such Wicked Things, the new series will see “romance spark between a demon and an angel when they are forced to solve a dangerous mystery together”.
Renninson says: “Kaylie is an exceptional storyteller, able to combine irresistible romance, rich gothic settings and the highest possible stakes. It has been a joy to collaborate with her on Phantasma and to see readers around the world fall in love with Blackwell and Ophelia. I can’t wait to draw readers deeper into their world, and to introduce a devastatingly sexy new fantasy couple, Eidolon and Cressida.”
Smith added: “This new series is something I’ve been dreaming up for a very long time, but knew it needed the right creative partnership to bring it to life, and I think it is in the most capable hands!”
