Seven Dials has landed Rylan Clark’s memoir Ten: The decade that changed my future.
Vicky Eribo, publisher at Seven Dials, acquired world rights to the “intimate, fascinating and joyful insight into an extraordinary 10 years on the telly” from Amanda Harris, m.d. at YMU Books. It will be published in hardback and e-book, alongside an audiobook narrated by the author, on 29th September 2022.
Clark first appeared on UK screens in September 2012 and in the 10 years since then has become “a one-of-a-kind national treasure”, the publisher said.
In his memoir he invites us deeper into his world to reflect on his decade in the limelight, while also pulling back the curtain on his personal journey. Covering everything from fame and celebrity to his mental health and identity, family and relationships to his love of reality TV, he recounts his life lessons with “humour, candour and a huge amount of heart”.
Eribo said: “It is a dream come true to welcome Rylan to Orion. I’ve been a huge fan ever since Rylan burst onto our screens with his unforgettable performances on ’The X Factor’, but that fandom turned to true love as I watched his hilarious and charming exchanges with his mum on ’Celebrity Gogglebox’.
“He is an icon like no other and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be sharing his incredible insights and stories with his legions of devoted fans. Rylan is the real deal—and that shines through on every page of this brilliant book. We will be supporting publication with a fabulous, fun and turbo-charged campaign to ensure it is absolutely unmissable this autumn.”
Rylan, whose debut book, The Life of Rylan, was published by Century in 2016, added: “I’ve learned so much from my decade in the business and I’m genuinely excited to be writing again. It’s been a tough couple of years for so many of us and last year was one of my toughest yet so I’m pleased to have the opportunity to talk about the lessons I’ve learned along the way. You’ll hopefully have a good laugh and cry with me too. I started off as the joke, and here I am, 10 years later, still laughing.”
