Seven Dials is publishing a new cookbook containing over 100 "budget-friendly" recipes that can be prepared in under 20 minutes, and cost readers less than £20 a week.
Anna Valentine, executive publisher of Seven Dials, Orion Spring and Trapeze, acquired world rights for Feed Your Family For £20 a Week… In a Hurry!, the second cookbook from Lorna Cooper, founder of fyf20quid.co.uk, a meal planning and recipe brand for families on a budget. Rights were bought from Carly Cook at Found in a two-book deal. The trade paperback, priced £16.99, will be published by Seven Dials on 15th April 2021.
Cooper’s first book, Feed Your Family for £20 a Week, showed people how to meal plan, budget and cook for just £20 a week. The author, who is a mother of three and stepmother of two, started a blog when, after a medical emergency, she found she didn’t quality for sick pay and had to slash her family’s food budget from around £100 a week to just £20. She achieved this through bulk buying, meal planning, making substitutes and being clever with leftovers.
In her new book, Cooper shares all her tips for recipes that are both cost and time-effective, catering to readers who are also in a hurry. Dishes in the book range from Tuscan chicken pasta to Philly cheese steak and peanut butter cookies.
Valentine said: "Lorna’s first book delighted the nation, being one of the bestselling cookery debuts of last year. As we head into a period of economic uncertainty, I’m thrilled that she’s back to help more families with her savvy budget-friendly meals, and this time all her recipes can be made in under 20 minutes. I know this cookbook will be much-used in kitchens around the UK."
Cooper said: "I was absolutely delighted with the feedback after I published my first book, so when I was approached about writing another I jumped at the chance. This time round I’ve focussed on the time element of cooking whilst still keeping the budget firmly in mind! I hope this new book will be a huge help to busy people everywhere."
