Jamie Laing's 'hilarious and heartfelt' memoir bought by Seven Dials

Orion's Seven Dials imprint will publish I Can Explain, the first memoir from TV personality Jamie Laing, who rose to fame on E4's "Made in Chelsea". 

The memoir will discuss the author's idyllic upbringing in the countryside to the grey walls of boarding school, revealing "wild details of all-night parties before exams and hilariously recounts blagging his way into a casino aged 17, and winning so much money his mum thought he was a drug dealer". Laing will also share the struggles he faced off camera, which left him crippled with anxiety and led to his eventual burnout. Throughout it all he will open up about the importance of friendship and all the people that have been there for him along the way, said the publisher. 

Laing, who is also the founder of sweet brand Candy Kittens and part of the McVitie’s biscuit family, said: "When I was at school if I had told my teachers that one day I would be writing a book they would have laughed out loud! Hopefully we’ll all be laughing now, because I’ve actually done it. I can’t wait for you to read it! It’s been hilarious, tough and even emotional at times, but I can now proudly say my book, I Can Explain, will be available soon."

Vicky Eribo, publishing director, acquired world rights from Paul Stevens at Independent Talent. The memoir will be published in hardback, e-book and audio on 16th September 2021, with Laing to narrate the audiobook himself.
