Orion imprint Seven Dials has licensed "The Archers" brand and characters to create a cookbook based on the BBC radio drama, written by scriptwriter Keri Davis.
Non-fiction publisher Alan Samson acquired world rights from Luigi Bonomi of Luigi Bonomi Associates, representing the BBC. The Archers Year of Food and Farming will be released on 26th September.
The synopsis explains: “From the fabled kitchens of Ambridge come the recipes and gossip that fuel the nation’s favourite village. Whether it’s Susan’s spicy chilli con carne on the hob or Helen’s dramatic tuna bake in the oven, Jill’s flapjacks stacked high or Alistair’s Goan fish curry hotting up suppertime, this celebration of Ambridge life will take fans even closer to the heart of every Archers home.”
Alongside recipes, the book also promises fresh tales, memories and a month-by-month guide to big events in the farming year.
Davies said: “It's been great fun exploring the farming that underpins Ambridge, digging up past food-related stories and imagining some new ones. I hope Archers listeners will enjoy reading the book as much as I did writing it.”
Publisher Amanda Harris added: “This glorious book is the perfect Christmas gift for the millions of Archers fans who tune in every week, gripped by the tales of Ambridge life. It includes mouth-watering recipe classics but also, and most deliciously, brand new gossip and stories that listeners won’t have heard before.”
