Sheldon Press has signed Everything You Hoped You’d Never Need to Know About Bowel Cancer by Dr Anisha Patel.
Senior commissioning editor Victoria Roddam acquired world English-language rights directly from the author. The book will be published on 30th March.
The book is described as the first bowel cancer guide to combine both lived experience with trusted medical acumen. When diagnosed with stage three bowel cancer in 2018, Patel focused her energy into raising awareness of the disease across the media. The book is the "ultimate testament to human resilience and the quest for a new normal, post-cancer," wrote the publisher.
Roddam said: "This will be a landmark publication for anyone diagnosed with bowel cancer, as well as those who need guidance in the days beyond their treatment and their family, friends and loved ones. Increasingly, younger people are being diagnosed with bowel cancer and a recent focus on the disease is driving not just awareness but also a real hunger for information. We hope the valuable support in Anisha’s book touches and informs the lives of anyone living with cancer as they navigate their own complex journeys."
