Short Books, part of the Octopus Publishing Group, has acquired a "practical and inspiring" book from entrepreneur Lyndsey Simpson. Jo Morrell from Short Books has acquired world rights to The Age Rebellion: Plan a Life You’ll Never Want to Retire From from Ann-Janine Murtagh at Tall House Creative. The book will be published in May 2026.
The book draws on the author’s personal insights, as well as current research, to give readers a practical, inspiring book to help them find an alternative to traditional retirement, and instead “a life of continued growth, productivity and impact, no matter what your age”. The synopsis continues: “By teaching us how to plan for a future that we’re excited about and enabling us to embrace our new longer lives readers will feel confident in boldly stepping into a new, empowered chapter that they define on their terms.”
Simpson runs the company 55/Redefined and has worked with some of the world’s biggest companies, encouraging them to be age-inclusive. In 2024, she was shortlisted for the Veuve Clicquot Bold Future Award and she is a regular speaker and business commentator for the BBC, Sky, the Times and the FT.
Morrell: “This is such an important topic, reflecting a global mega-trend, and Lyndsey is an absolute powerhouse and trailblazer in the field, so I am delighted to be working with her on The Age Rebellion. This book speaks to a whole new generation of 50-plus readers who want to take control and ensure they thrive in their next 30 years or more.”
Simpson added: “In my day job as CEO of 55/Redefined, I have the privilege to engage with and hear from hundreds of thousands of over 50s employees, job seekers and consumers every month, from all across the globe. My aim is to be everyone’s best friend and advisor in this journey, utilising my expertise from solving this within global corporations, to enabling everyone to have the knowledge and confidence to design a life that they never want to retire from.”
