Simon & Schuster has signed a two-book deal with Milly Johnson as celebrations are prepared for the publication of her 20th novel, Together, Again.
Publishing director Clare Hey acquired UK and Commonwealth rights, including audio, from Lizzy Kremer at David Higham Associates. Together, Again will be published on 29th September 2022.
Johnson’s debut novel The Yorkshire Pudding Club (Simon & Schuster) was published in 2007 and since then she has sold more than 2.5 million copies in all formats in the UK, according to the publisher. To mark Johnson’s 20th novel, a series of 20 events have been organised including bookshop signings, festival appearances and library events. An Instagram live series will be held with Jane Fallon, Veronica Henry, Lucy Vine, Cathy Bramley and Colleen Prendergast, who voices all Johnson’s audiobooks.
Hey commented: "The whole team at Simon & Schuster UK is so proud to have been Milly’s publisher right from the very beginning of her career, 20 books ago. And we’re delighted to have signed a new deal to continue our partnership on into the future. Milly is a central pillar of our publishing and it’s a joy and an honour to continue working with her."
Johnson said: "I am beyond thrilled to be celebrating my 20th book with my publishing ‘family’ who have grown my career steadily and consistently and fed and watered it with their care and expertise – although part of me is saying ’how the heck did all those books happen?’. I consider myself very lucky to have found the perfect fit of publisher in S&S, and agent in Lizzy Kremer who is always in my corner. I’m personally fond of them all as well as professionally in awe. My head is buzzing with ideas for future projects – so bring on the next 20."
