Wren & Rook, an imprint of Hachette Children's Group, will publish Sinead Burke's "empowering" non-fiction children's book Break the Mould: How To Take Your Place In The World. The book is illustrated by Natalie Byrne.
Laura Horsley, commissioning editor, and Phoebe Jascourt, editor, at Hachette Children’s Group secured world rights to the book which will be published on 15th October 2020.
Burke is an advocate, activist, teacher and a British Vogue contributing editor. In 2019, Burke was the first little person to be featured on the cover of Vogue as part of the Duchess of Sussex's "Force for Change" issue.
Break the Mould will work to help young readers believe in themselves and find comfort in their own skin.
Burke commented: "Using my lived experience as a case study to create empathy and to understand the value of kindness, this book will help all readers realise that even though our bodies, thoughts and interests are different, there is so much that unites us and, well, anything is possible."
Horsley added: "We are completely thrilled to be publishing Sinéad. She is an incredibly inspiring role model and advocate for change, and her work to encourage inclusivity and challenge ignorance—in schools, interviews, podcasts, Met Galas and more—chimes with our ambition to empower children to make a difference to the world around them."
