Film rights to "moving" memoir and Sunday Times number one bestseller Sins of the Mother (Pan Macmillan) have been sold to Unstoppable Urges Productions.
Canadian producer Kelli Keiley optioned the film rights in a deal negotiated by agent Andrew Lownie of the Andrew Lownie Literary Agency.
Authored by Irene, Matt and Jennifer Kelly, the book published in August last year is an "inspiring" true story about a family coming to terms with their mother's abusive past in Ireland.
Ghostwriter for the title, Katy Weitz, said: "We're delighted Kelli and her team are making the movie. She is clearly very passionate about the subject and I'm convinced she will make a engaging and compelling drama from this true story."
Irene Kelly added: "After talking to Kelli I'm really confident my book is in the right hands. It's so exciting to think that this will be a film one day and very far from what I ever imagined."
