Solaris has landed Sylvain Neuvel’s The Many, a "weird literary" science fiction novel that explores sex, gender, racism, violence and forgiveness.
Editor David Thomas Moore acquired world English-language rights from Seth Fishman at the Gernert Company for publication in spring 2026.
The Many follows what happens after a small meteorite lands on earth and something attaches itself to a tick. When the tick bites a human and instils an impulse to bite others "it sets in motion a growing hivemind attempting to fight off the worst impulses of humanity".
Neuvel said: "I knew these characters before I gave them a name. I knew the plot, the pacing, what sort of a ride I wanted it to be. I’m very happy to be working with the amazing team at Solaris to bring this new story into the world.”
Thomas Moore added: "The Many is unsettling in the best possible way, a weird, beautiful, lyrical story with a cast of billions (but at the same time a cast of one) and a passionate, heartfelt call for empathy and healing in a world that needs it more than ever. I can’t wait for you all to lose yourself in its alien normality.”
