Sony buys film rights to Kwan's Sex and Vanity

Sony Pictures has bought the film rights to Kevin Kwan's new novel Sex and Vanity (Hutchinson).

The deal will see Kwan produce alongside S K Global's John Pennoti, reuniting the duo after they previously worked on the smash-hit adaptation "Crazy Rich Asians".

Sex and Vanity, released last month, lifts the lid on what happens when new money from the East clashes with the blue blood upper echelons of New York society. It is billed as“ a truly modern love story, a daring homage to A Room with a View, and a brilliantly funny comedy of manners set between two cultures”.

Pennoti said: “Seven years ago, Kevin entrusted us (and our producing partners) with his groundbreaking bestseller Crazy Rich Asians, and ever since, working with him has been a creative dream. With Sex and Vanity, he’s once again created a work of magic, crafting a riveting story about love and identity,"
