Souvenir bags illustrated guide to empathy from Garrett

Souvenir Press has bagged an examination of empathy and the necessity of kindness by writer and illustrator Henry James Garrett.

Publisher Rebecca Gray acquired UK and Commonwealth rights (excluding Canada) from Sabila Khan at Penguin Group in the US. Garrett is represented by Laura Macdougall at United Agents. This Book Will Make You Kinder: An Empathy Handbook will be published in hardback on 20th October.

The publisher said: "This Book Will Make You Kinder introduces readers to the concept of empathy: where it comes from, and why every human–and some animals–have it. Through exploring the sources and limitations of human empathy, This Book Will Make You Kinder considers the many ways that we can work toward being our best and kindest selves for the people around us, and the society we need to build."

Garrett has written and illustrated for the New York Times, created Valentine's cards for The Fawcett Society, provided a drawing of Meghan Markle's dog as a gift for her, cartooned for Buzzfeed and London Pride, and had solo exhibitions in London and Brighton.
