Souvenir Press has acquired a further three titles to add to G T Karber’s Murdle series.
Publishing director Cindy Chan acquired UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, from Kerry Nordling, rights director at St Martin’s Press.
The fourth title, Murdle: The School of Mystery: 50 Wildly Wicked Murder Mystery Puzzles, is to be published in a compact B-format on 10th October 2024. It will be followed by a further two Murdle puzzle books, due for release in spring and autumn 2025, respectively.
In the fourth book, Deductive Logico takes readers back to his early days of Deduction College. The synopsis says: "It was here that he befriended the student who would become Inspector Irratino! Join the young, budding detectives as they stumble on a series of mysterious campus murders."
Karber seized the 2023 Official Christmas number one spot with Murdle (Souvenir Press)—the first volume in the series—which was recently the recipient of a Silver Nielsen Bestsellers Award, having sold over 250,000 copies. Murdle and its follow up, Murdle: More Killer Puzzles, combined to earn £4m for Souvenir Press, and the third volume in the series, Murdle: Even More Killer Puzzles, is due for release in May 2024.
Chan said: "G T Karber’s clever, funny and fun Murdle has been a genre-busting phenomenon and a celebration of British mysteries. With two Murdle books in print, and a third coming this May, I am excited to announce Deductive Logico will return in Murdle books four, five and six—these will be a smaller format and more compact, in response to Murdlers who want to be able to do their deducting on the go!"
Karber added: "Murdles four, five, and six will be easier to solve and yet more satisfying, offering original challenges in a familiar format. I cannot wait to share what we have been working on!"
