Sphere has acquired A New York Winter and another “swoon-worthy” festive romance novel by Isla Gordon.
World rights were acquired by Rebecca Roy, commissioning editor, from Hannah Ferguson at Hardman & Swainson. Ruth Jones, editor, will publish in the UK in paperback, e-book and audiobook in November.
A New York Winter follows Ashling who, on an unforgettable long weekend in New York City at the age of 19, created a list of five life goals. Ten years later, those dreams have all crumbled. With only one viable goal left: move to New York City, Ashling packs her bags and sets off for a winter in the city that never sleeps.
While trying to find a place to live, she encounters River, newly single, overlooked at work and miserable, who offers Ashling a room in his flat. With his help and the magical winter in the city, Ashling starts to discover that some dreams are made to evolve and new paths can be found in the most unlikely of places.
Jones said: “I am so thrilled to be working with Isla on this perfectly festive and romantic, cosy treat of a book. Her books always sparkle with magic and fun and I’m so excited to share Isla’s brilliant ability to transport you right to the city that never sleeps.”
Gordon said: "I’m so excited to be publishing a fifth novel with Sphere and this one is set in one of my favourite winter destinations. There’s something about the Big Apple at that time of year which seems full of magic and possibilities—just what my leading lady is in need of.”
Ferguson said: ’Bec and the team at Sphere have been wonderful to work with and so it’s exciting to get the opportunity to continue working together on future Isla Gordon books.”
