Sphere has landed the 100th novel from historical fiction author Cynthia Harrod-Eagles which will see the author return to her Morland Dynasty series.
Rebecca Roy, commissioning editor, acquired world rights all-languages direct from the author. The Gathering Storm will be published in August 2024 and mark the 36th book in the series.
The first book in the Morland Dynasty series, The Founding, was published in 1980 by Little, Brown and set during the War of the Roses. The latest instalment The Phoenix followed the Morland family at the the time of King George V’s death in 1936. The Gathering Storm will pick up immediately after the conclusion of The Phoenix.
Roy said: "Cynthia’s acclaimed series gives the reader a majestic sweep of English history, accessibly and movingly portrayed through the fictional lives of the Morland family, and I am excited for readers to rediscover her adored characters when we publish the brand-new book later this year."
Harrod-Eagles added: "Readers of the series have been asking me with increasing urgency over the years to tell them what happened next, so it feels appropriate that my 100th book should revisit the Morland world and tie up loose ends, especially as it covers such a fascinating period of our history."
