Sphere will publish Sunburn: The Unofficial History of Britain’s Biggest Selling Newspaper in 99 Headlines by Twitter comedian James Felton.
Emily Barrett, senior commissioning editor at Sphere, acquired world rights direct from the author. Publication is scheduled for autumn 2020.
Author of 52 Time Britain was a Bellend, Felton’s new book is an unofficial history of Britain’s biggest selling newspaper, the Sun, "covering the treatment of everyone from the Royal Family to the LGBTQ+ community, women, people of colour, immigrants, politicians and celebrities". By reviewing 99 of the paper’s headlines that track the biggest events in modern Britain the book aims to answer the question: ‘Does media reflect—or manipulate—who we are?’
Felton said that he hopes the book will "give the nation a little bit of insight into a paper that it’s created, or helped to create".
Barrett said: "James is a dream to work with and a major talent on the sphere list; we are so proud to be developing his publishing career and I can’t wait to bring to market a book that will no doubt be as funny and illuminating as it will be conversation starting."
