Sphere has acquired Gallagher: Fall and Rise of Oasis by PJ Harrison, a former label owner and artist manager who went on tour with Oasis, during which time he “spent almost every day around the band and their crew, getting to know their management and developed friendly relationships with the band”.
Non-fiction publisher Kelly Ellis acquired world all-language rights from Jon Wood at RCW, with the book scheduled for publication on 15th May 2025, ahead of Oasis’ world tour commencing in July.
Upon acquisition, rights “quickly” sold in four languages; Dutch, German, Finnish and Danish. The book will have a foreword from Rolling Stones manager and producer, Andrew Loog Oldham.
In the book, Harrison, who has worked with artists such as Nas and Lauryn Hill, “will chronicle the fall and rise again” of Oasis. “With a focus on Noel Gallagher and Liam Gallagher’s individual journeys, this absorbing biography starts from the shattered remnants of Oasis in 2009, taking fans through 15 years of high and lows as the brothers become formidable solo artists, pinpointing the significant events that allowed them to bridge their fraternal rift and stage the greatest comeback of all time,” the publisher says.
Harrison said: “I’ve always been captivated by the complex, often contradictory nature of Liam and Noel Gallagher. As two of the most iconic figures in British music, they represent much more than just Oasis – they embody a deep and nuanced part of Britain’s social history, one that includes both the legacy of immigration and the unyielding impact of class in modern Britain. Gallagher is an exploration of how talent, trauma and personal traits shape individuals, their work and their families.
“Noel and Liam are a lifetime away from the ‘madferrit’, lager-drinking caricatures hard-boiled in 90s tabloid culture. Gallagher tells the individual stories of Liam and Noel, as well as the collective narrative of Oasis, all while exploring what it truly means to wear the name ‘Gallagher’. This is not just a story of the most exciting and influential British band since four fabs walked into a cellar, it’s a story of family, identity and legacy. I’m very thankful for Kelly and the team at Little, Brown as well as Jon at RCW for their support.”
Ellis said: “I thought I couldn’t get any more excited about the Oasis reunion but then PJ came along with his deeply thoughtful and intimate approach to sharing Liam and Noel’s individual stories. In Gallagher, he has truly captured the scale of their cultural significance so beautifully while digging beneath the surface of the headlines to explore the truth of why this band is one of a kind. It is a book written by a fan for fans new and old, full of first-hand insight, and Sphere is very proud to be publishing it.”
