Square Peg has triumphed in an 11-way auction for TikTok personality and psychotherapist Meg Josephson’s Are You Mad at Me?
Marianne Tatepo, publishing director, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Sabhbh Curran at Curtis Brown on behalf of Rebecca Gradinger at United Talent Agency. US rights were won by Lauren Spiegel at Gallery Books. Rights have also been sold in Brazil (Record), Greece (Psichogios), Hungary (Central Kiadói Csoport) and Ukraine (Family Leisure Club). The book will be published by Square Peg as a "major" title in spring 2026.
In Are You Mad at Me?, Josephson tells her own "moving" story, and those of her clients, to present an "empowering and accessible path forward based on the main tenet of her practice: people-pleasing is not a personality trait, it’s a common trauma response".
Josephson said: "I’m so honoured that Are You Mad at Me? found its UK home at Square Peg. My greatest hope is that this book provides people from all walks of life with tangible tools and relatable stories that they can see themselves in. Square Peg aligns perfectly with this hope, through its commitment to publishing books that educate, empower and entertain. I’m so excited to work with Square Peg and editor Marianne Tatepo, and to reach as many people as we can with this timely topic."
Tatepo added: "All of us at Square Peg were instantly swayed by Are You Mad at Me?’s originality and clarity of purpose, and felt the urge to publish this debut with the care, passion and ambition it deserves. Meg’s highly accessible yet deeply thoughtful analysis of ’fawning’ as the fourth trauma response is life-affirming for the many who have found themselves responding to conflict in ways that feel disempowering or inauthentic. Are You Mad at Me? feels like five years of therapy in a single volume – it is a balm to think of how many lives it will touch. We are delighted to welcome Meg to Square Peg and cannot wait to publish this transformative book."
