Simon & Schuster Children’s Books has acquired two more titles in the Dragon Realm series by Katie and Kevin Tsang.
Managing director Rachel Denwood acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Claire Wilson at Rogers, Coleridge & White. The series will be a super-lead priority for Simon & Schuster Children’s Books in 2021 with a six-figure marketing campaign planned.
Dragon Realm is a series for readers aged nine plus that launched with Waterstones Book of the Month Dragon Mountain in September 2020. A second book, Dragon Legend, will be published in March 2021 and a third novel in September 2021.
The two books in this new deal (books four and five) will publish in March 2022 and September 2022.
Denwood commented: "I am so happy that the big-hearted heroes of the Dragon Realm have so many more epic adventures to come! This series has all the ingredients of a major hit that will build book to book and grow readers — a rich and intriguing world, heart-racing action and danger, page-turning writing, tight plotting — and wonderful dragon and child characters whose sparkling personalities leap from the page. Katie and Kevin Tsang are creating something very special here and everyone at Simon & Schuster Children’s Books is thrilled to be publishing these two brilliant and talented people."
The authors added: "We are so excited to continue the Dragon Realm adventure with S&S. We have been so impressed with the entire S&S children’s team and have been blown away by the support they’ve put behind the series and we couldn’t have hoped for a better launch for our dragons. The reader response has been so wonderful and the whole experience has been a dream come true for us as authors. We hope readers continue to discover and love the series as it grows."
The couple have also published the Sam Wu young fiction series which launched in 2018 with Sam Wu is Not Afraid of Ghosts (Egmont). Katie Tsang also writes YA fiction as Katherine Webber.
