S&S signs memoir from Apprentice star Hewer

Simon & Schuster will publish the “fascinating” memoir of "The Apprentice" star Nick Hewer.

Ian Marshall, editorial director at Simon & Schuster, acquired world rights from Heather Holden-Brown of the HHB Agency after approaching the former PR professional for a proposal.

My Alphabet: : A Life from A to Z is Hewer's first book and promises to take readers “through an A-Z of his life” offering a “humorous” insight into his life and career over 26 chapters. It will be published in autumn next year retailing at £20.

Marshall said: “I’d long felt that a book from him would have huge appeal, and had even just asked an agent to try to track him down for me. Within minutes of that meeting finishing, his brilliant proposal for this book landed in my inbox from Heather, and I am thrilled to be able to publish him.”

He added: “I’m delighted to say that he’s as much of a natural on the page as he is on the screen.”

Hewer revealed that his agent, Holden-Brown, had urged him to write a memoir for some time.

He said: “I kept Heather at bay for the best part of six years, but caved in eventually. What I had dreaded all those years in fact became a rather interesting rummage through the attic of my memories, and I’m delighted to have the opportunity to share them more widely.”

Sugar said: “I always knew he was quite creative, but I had no idea he was so reckless.”

The news comes as the 13th series of reality show “The Apprentice” begins on BBC. Hewer acted as an advisor to host Lord Alan Sugar for 10 series before taking over as host on “Countdown”.
