Simon & Schuster has unveiled the title, release date and cover of Patrick Stewart’s memoir.
Making it So, a play on one of the most famous phrases said by Stewart’s character Jean-Luc Picard in “Star Trek: The Next Generation”, who often said “Make it So”, will be published on 3rd October 2023.
World English language rights were first acquired in 2020 by former deputy publishing director Ian Marshall at S&S UK from Jennifer Joel of ICM.
At the time of acquisition, Stewart said: “The idea of writing a memoir based on my life and career has been in my mind for several years, but always the demands of work have pushed it into the background. Today there are no demands, nor is there a prediction when there might be."
According to Entertainment Weekly, after many years of being approached by publishers and ghost writers to produce his memoirs, Stewart was clear he never wanted to use a ghost writer, “That never interested me because I would tell myself: ’If I’m going to tell my story, I will tell it’. I don’t need somebody else to tell it with me,” adding that with Simon & Schuster: “We had an agreement that if I started and didn’t like it or couldn’t do it, I would repay my advance and walk away from it.”
