Storm has signed two psychological thrillers by Christie J Newport, author of The Raven’s Mark, which won the Joffe Books Prize for Crime Writers of Colour.
Deputy managing director Claire Bord agreed a deal for world English language rights for two new books with Elizabeth Counsell at Northbank Talent.
The first book will be published in May 2024 and opens with Olive Brown receiving a threatening letter linking her to a notorious 1950’s psychiatric hospital – the Wynwarden Asylum.
The second novel, which tells the story of a Jamaican nurse whose children and husband disappear, will be published in September 2024. Both books are as yet untitled.
Bord said: “Christie writes emotional and unputdownable twist-filled stories. What really stands out about Christie’s novels is that she has rooted them in real-life events, exploring themes and stories that give a voice to those afraid to speak out. She’s a hugely talented writer, and I can’t wait to bring Christie’s novels to readers in 2024.”
Newport added: “I am happy to be working with Claire Bord and the Storm publishing team. Claire’s passion for my writing and her understanding of the stories and characters resonated strongly with me. I believe she is the right person to help me make these books the very best they can be.”
