Stormy Young journo signed up by Stripes
STORM series author Emma Young is to write two YA novels for Little Tiger imprint Stripes Publishing, after publisher Jane Harris acquired UK and Commonwealth rights (excluding Canada) from Julia Churchill at A M Heath.
The first, She, Myself and I, is about Rosa, a British teenager with a degenerative nerve disease who receives a revolutionary brain transplant from donor Sylvia, a comatose teen.
Harris said: “[It] is the most engaging novel I’ve read in a long time, and Emma’s writing is faultless. Rosa’s story is absorbing, poignant and beautifully handled. I can see She, Myself and I capturing the hearts of a whole host of readers and garnering critical acclaim.”
Journalist Young covers science and medicine for the likes of the Guardian, Sydney Morning Herald and the New Scientist. As an author she is best known for the STORM medical thrillers for nine- to 12-year-olds, written as E L Young and published by Macmillan (UK) and Dial (US).
She, Myself and I will be released in the UK in 2018 (Abrams, which holds North American rights, will publish in September), with the follow-up slated for 2019.
