Sweet Cherry signs 20-book deal for new picture book series
Sweet Cherry has signed a 20-book deal for a new "engaging" picture book series from Red.
Publisher Sanjee de Silva acquired world rights directly from the author with the first book in the deal, Unicake, publishing on 11th April 2024.
The new series will "put a modern spin on classic narratives" and fairy tales and will touch upon themes such as acceptance, generosity and good behaviour.
Red commented: "I can’t wait for readers to, firstly, enjoy the fun new stories I have written, but I’m also excited for them to revisit tales and formats that we all know and love in a fun, funky way! Fairy tales just got fierce."
De Silva added: "We’re all excited to be releasing these wonderful books with Red. Each of them has its own individual story and message, making them the perfect way to start seeding important topics with children. Red’s books contain everything from a sweet-toothed unicorn, a ghost who loves to host and a boy who played on his console for way too long… there truly is something for everyone!”
