Children’s publisher Sweet Cherry has signed a 10-book deal with Gyasi Sheppy, pantomime actor and CBeebies presenter.
The deal, for world rights across all territories and formats, was struck after a member of the Sweet Cherry team came across Sheppy on social media. Based in Northern Ireland, Sheppy’s books will work to break down traditional hobby or skill-focused stereotypes, such as sports being for only for boys and dancing being for girls.
Sheppy said: "I simply cannot believe I’m going to be an author! I have always been a storyteller, whether that be onstage or onscreen, but never thought I’d get my stories put down on paper. I’m ecstatic to delve deeper into the literary world and I know that, throughout this process, I’ll get to not only create an entire world, but I’ll also get to know myself a little more, too. I’m very proud to work with Sweet Cherry – their messaging and brand align with my own perfectly."
The books will first publish mid-2025.
