Swift Press has swooped for two new thrillers from author and former CIA officer David McCloskey.
Publisher Mark Richards bought UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, from Caspian Dennis at Abner Stein, on behalf of Lisa Erbach Vane at The Aaron M Priest Literary Agency. The Seventh Floor, the first book in the deal, will be published on 30th January 2025.
McCloskey’s debut, Damascus Station, was shortlisted for the Crime & Thriller Book of the Year Award at the British Book Awards 2024. The Seventh Floor is the author’s third outing following from Moscow X. He commented: "After their tremendous work and support for me and my books, I’m delighted to be working with Swift Press once again. More than any of my other novels, The Seventh Floor is an exploration of the current tradecraft, politics and culture of the present day CIA as well as a story about the nature of friendship and the long reach of loyalty."
Richards said: "There is a mole in the higher reaches of the CIA – the famed Seventh Floor – and it’s left to the irascible and irrepressible Artemis Procter to discover who it is, before the net closes in on her. It is a first-hand portrait of the inner workings of the contemporary CIA, with a bravura plot and a nod towards the most famous spy novel of all time, and explores friendship, loyalty and betrayal, with a side-helping of alligator wrestling. His many fans will be thrilled, and it will also I’m sure win him many new ones."
