The Bridge Street Press has acquired The Fall: The End of the Murdoch Empire by Michael Wolff, the author of Fire and Fury, Siege and Landslide (also Little, Brown).
Little, Brown Book Group managing director Charlie King and Bridge Street Press publisher Sameer Rahim acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Andrew Wylie at The Wylie Agency. UK publication is scheduled for 26th September 2023.
The Fall is described by the publisher as “the culmination of Wolff’s unprecedented behind-the-scenes access to those closest to both the Murdoch dynasty and its right-wing cable news channel Fox News".
It adds: “Wolff vividly captures the effect on Fox from the fallout of the Dominion lawsuit which cost Murdoch’s company $787.5m, as well as the battles over which of the three children in the running—James, Lachlan or Elisabeth—will become Murdoch’s successor.
Wolff, also author of The Man Who Owns the News: Inside the Secret World of Rupert Murdoch (Vintage, 2018), said: “I have been telling the story of Rupert Murdoch’s great power for many years. I am delighted now to be able to bring this story to a close."
Rahim said: “As someone who devoured Michael’s books on Donald Trump, I couldn’t wait to read his take on the Murdochs. And The Fall is everything you would want—and more. As you would expect from the best-connected man in media, there are riveting insights on every page, but at the centre there is also a recognisable family drama that gives the book its beating heart.”
