Thomas & Mercer, the mystery, thriller and true crime imprint of Amazon Publishing, has snapped up two more standalone psychological thrillers by crime author and former police detective Caroline Mitchell, set to publish in 2024 and 2025.
Editor Kasim Mohammed acquired world English language rights for all formats from Madeleine Milburn at the Madeleine Milburn Literary, Film & TV Agency. The House on Misery Hill will be published in e-book, paperback and audiobook in late 2024, with another book to follow in 2025.
"Set in the moody and mysterious Doolin village on the rugged coastline of Ireland’s County Clare, The House on Misery Hill tells the story of one fatal car crash and many buried secrets," the synopsis says. "Fionnuala Claffey and Kathryn Murphy are two mothers visiting Doolin with their babies for different reasons. When their cars collide on Misery Hill, only one of the babies survive. As secrets and revelations begin to unravel, only Maura Claffey, the lonely and elusive woman who lives upon the crest of Misery Hill, knows the truth."
Mohammed said: "We are so pleased to have contracted Caroline for two more twisty thrillers. She is a brilliant writer, with a real penchant for dreaming up claustrophobic locations that will stay with you long after you’ve finished reading. The House on Misery Hill is set to be her best yet, and we are so glad to continue working with her."
