Timbuktu announces Rebel Girls Chapter Book series on Lovelace and Walker

Timbuktu, the team behind the Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls books, has announced two titles featuring Ada Lovelace and Madam C J Walker as part of a new series.

The Rebel Girls Chapter Book series will contain third-person accounts of the life and times of an incredible woman “who persevered to accomplish incredible achievements in science, art, sports, business, politics, and more”.

The books, for children aged six to nine, include full-colour illustrations and activities related to each woman’s strengths.

Its first title tells the story of Lovelace, a pioneer of computer science, while the second details the life of Walker, a self-made millionaire whose products still dominate the black hair care industry.

Ada Lovelace Cracks the Code, illustrated by Marina Muun, and Madam C.J. Walker Builds a Business, illustrated by Salini Perera, are scheduled for publication on 12th November.

Timbuktu was set up by Rebel Girl founders Elena Favilli and Francesca Cavallo, who split from Penguin Random House after the runaway success of the first Rebel Girls title, Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls.

Last year the company used crowdfunding to raise $219,012, more than double its target, towards I Am a Rebel Girl: A Journal to Start Revolutions.
