Time travel novella to Pan Mac

Pan Macmillan has acquired a "high-concept" new novella with a "time-travel twist", by sci-fi author Peter F Hamilton.

UK and Commonwealth rights for A Window into Time were bought by senior commissioning editor Bella Pagan from Antony Harwood at Antony Harwood Ltd.

Set in London, the novella follows grounded teenager, Julian, who has the gift of perfect recall - so when he starts experiencing someone else’s memories, which are also glimpses of the future, Julian is compelled to find out why. When it becomes clear this unmet friend is in danger, he resolves to do everything in his power to track him down – and to prevent him from getting killed.

Hamilton said: "The story of Julian is one that's been in the back of my head for a couple of years now. So while I was between novels at the end of 2015, I took the opportunity to finally get it written down. It's unusual for me in that it isn't set in the future or features a lot of shiny science fictional technology. Which makes me very happy that Macmillan was keen to publish it."

Pagan said: "Peter F Hamilton continues to bend his prodigious imagination to new challenges. He’s come up with something fresh and exciting in A Window into Time, and this will be a treat for new readers as well as loyal fans."

Hamilton is best known for his space adventures, the stories he has been writing since 1993. His next new hardback is Night Without Stars that comes out in September 2016, and Pan Macmillan will publish A Window into Time in e-book in July 2016.

Hamilton's last novella, Family Matters, also published in e-book only.
