Titan Books has landed City of All Seasons, a “vibrant” fantasy from Oliver K Langmead and Aliya Whiteley.
World English language rights were acquired by managing editor George Sandison from Langmead’s agent Alex Cochran at C&W Agency and Max Edwards at Aevitas Creative Management for Whiteley. The novel will be published in April 2025.
“City of All Seasons is everything I hoped the combination of Oliver’s and Aliya’s glorious brains would be,” said Sandison. “They are two of the most truly innovative, exciting and lyrical writers working in genre fiction today, and the book is so incredibly vibrant and colourful. The world of Fairharbour is set to become an iconic slice of literary fantasy.”
City of All Seasons tells the story of two inventors who are trapped in mirrored versions of the island city of Fairharbour. In one it is winter and the other constant summer. When they find a way to communicate with each other, the pair try to discover what happened to their city and how to repair the fracture between worlds.
“It has been an extraordinary privilege, working with Aliya on City of All Seasons,” said Langmead.
“The book is a celebration of our mutual love of finding new challenges and frontiers in speculative fiction to explore. And I can think of no better home for it than Titan Books, who are at the cutting edge when it comes to publishing innovative speculative stories.”
Whiteley added: “I hugely enjoyed working with Ollie on City of All Seasons. We shared our imaginations to create a give-and-take science-fantasy story set in Fairharbour, a vibrant city of surprise and invention. It’s been one of the best writing experiences of my life and I’m delighted Titan Books will publish the result.”
