Titan has scooped A Blood as Bright as the Moon, a "powerful and unique gothic" novel from Andrea Morstabilini.
Fiction editor Daniel Carpenter acquired world English language rights in a two-book deal from Sandra Pareja at Massie & McQuilkin Literary Agents. A Blood as Bright as the Moon will be published in September 2025.
"Andrea Morstabilini’s novel is one of the most original and alive English language fiction projects that have ever come my way", said Pareja. "I can’t wait for Titan to usher in this hypnotic tale of belief as a lifeline that needs to be destroyed and reinvented, of brave beings defying all earthly law and imposition."
Morstabilini’s novel follows young vampire Ambrose who finds himself torn between his clan and the modern world when a doctor tells him he can be cured.
The synopsis continues: "The rest of his clan prepare to flee their home by building makeshift wings to fly to a safe haven on the moon. But a clandestine society is on the horizon with sinister plans for all vampires. If Ambrose isn’t careful, he could find himself right at the centre of a horrific experiment."
Carpenter commented: "Like the offspring of Bulgakov and Mariana Enriquez, this is a powerful and unique gothic novel. Unsettling and grisly, but completely heartbreaking. Ambrose’s journey is brimming full of vampires, ancient squabbles among secret societies, and an autopsy for the ages.”
Morstabilini said: “Titan Books is home (haunted, for sure) to an extraordinary roster of authors, many of whom I count among the modern masters of horror, such as Nathan Ballingrud, Tananarive Due, Stephen Graham Jones, Kim Newman—the list could go on. To suddenly find myself in such company is both humbling and thrilling. And to have Daniel Carpenter, fellow dweller in the darker demesnes of the literary landscape, guide me as we approach the publication date of A Blood as Bright as the Moon, and beyond, as we get our hands dirty on a new novel, is a privilege I’ll always be thankful for.”
