Titan Books has snapped up two "wild, terrifying and mind-boggling" supernatural horror novels by the "Queen of African horror" Nuzo Onoh.
Fiction editor-at-large, Cath Trechman, acquired world English-language rights (excluding West Africa), including audiobook, to two new novels by the recipient of the Bram Stoker Award for Lifetime Achievemen, Onoh via Bieke van Aggelen at African Literary Agency.
The first novel in the deal, Futility, is scheduled to be published in autumn 2025, followed by The Turning of Sally-Mae a year later.
The new novels are "fierce, funny, horrifying tales" of women seeking deadly supernatural vengeance on the men who have wronged them.
Onoh’s upcoming novel, Where the Dead Brides Gather, is due to be published in October 2024 by Titan Books.
Onoh said: "Futility and The Turning of Sally-Mae are unlike anything I’ve written in the past. I’m thrilled to share these two stories with my readers and can’t thank my agent, Bieke Van Aggelen and Titan Books editor, Cath Trechman, enough for giving them the perfect home."
Van Aggelen said: "We absolutely adore Nuzo’s work, talent and unique voice, and we are proud to have found a publisher who shares our admiration.”
Trechman added: “Nuzo is an incredible talent and we feel fortunate she has trusted us to publish these mad, brilliant novels.”
