Little, Brown imprint Sphere is publishing a first book by professional boxer and social media star Tommy Fury.
Tig Wallace, senior commissioning editor, pre-empted world all-language rights to Lightning Can Strike Twice: My Life as a Fury from Oscar Janson-Smith in a “substantial” six-figure deal, with publication slated for 10th October 2024 in hardback, e-book and audio.
The synopsis says: “In Lightning Can Strike Twice, Tommy Fury opens up about his incredible story – defying pressure and triumphing regardless of the weight of expectation on his shoulders – and the many sides to his life. He shares unfiltered stories about his experience on ‘Love Island’, the highs and lows of his career, candid insight into his life at home with Molly-Mae and their daughter Bambi, the source of the champion’s mentality that keeps him unbeaten in the boxing ring, and a glimpse behind the scenes of what life is like as part of one of the UK’s most popular families – including never-before-seen personal photos.”
Wallace said: “Tommy Fury’s inspiring autobiography doesn’t just delve into how he carved out an unbeaten professional career against the odds but lets us into all areas of his life with honesty, humility and incredible warmth.”
Fury added: “I’m super excited for the release of my first book this year! I finally get to show you all the man away from the boxing ring and TV – I’m going to take you along with me as I take a trip down memory lane, going through all the trials and tribulations I faced growing up as well as all the struggles that have led me to where I am today, as well as looking towards the future and what that may hold for me. It’s a bumpy ride, so fasten your seatbelts! I hope you enjoy the book.”
