Tor has bagged a two-book deal with Jenn Lyons for The Sky on Fire and another fantasy novel.
Editorial director Sophie Robinson acquired UK and British Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, from Chris Scheina at Macmillan US. The Sky on Fire will be published on 9th July 2024.
A standalone fantasy novel, The Sky on Fire is set in world ruled by dragons and their riders following Anahrod who lives in the jungles of the Deep. The synopsis continues: "When an adventuring party saves her from capture by the local warlord, she is eager to return to her solitary life, but this is no ordinary rescue. Anahrod’s past has caught up with her. And these cunning misfits intend to spirit her away to the cloud cities, where they need her help to steal from a dragon’s hoard."
"There’s only one problem: in the cloud cities, dragons rule, and the hoard in question belongs to the current regent, Neveranimas – and she wants Anahrod dead."
Robinson commented: "There’s nothing I love more in epic fantasy than a band of misfits planning a heist and The Sky on Fire has the very best of them. Who wouldn’t want to steal a dragon hoard with a poet and an alchemist? Full of high-stakes intrigue, page-turning adventure and simmering heat, this is your next favourite dragon read."
