Tor Bramble has snagged the rights to a new romantasy trilogy from previously indie-published author Juliette Cross.
The deal, for UK and British Commonwealth rights (excluding Canada) to The Fire that Binds trilogy, was struck with Chris Scheina, director for subsidiary rights at Macmillan US.
The first in the series, Firebird, will be published in hardback, trade paperback, eBook and audio in April 2025. Books two and three will follow in 2026 and 2027.
The series is an enemies-to-lovers romantasy in which dragons rule ancient Rome.
Gillian Green, Tor publisher, said: “Obviously dragons remain hugely popular in romantic fantasy, and Juliette has bought such a fun and fresh approach to this established subgenre with her stunning re-imagining of an ancient Rome where Emperors may govern, but dragons rule. This is simply glorious—a wonderfully spicy and original historical fantasy with an utterly addictive enemies-to-lovers romance at its heart.”
Cross said: “Recreating Rome where the nobility reign supreme as shape-shifting dragons and the gods play favourites, giving mortal women their mystical powers, has been an idea I’ve been wanting to bring to life for many years. I’m absolutely thrilled to finally write this world for Tor UK and Bramble and share with readers.”
Tor Bramble is the newly launched Tor UK/Pan Macmillan imprint for romance, fantasy and romantasy.
