Tor UK, part of Pan Macmillan, is thrilled to announce the acquisition of Girls’ School for Demon Summoning (and two additional untitled novels in the trilogy) by Sunday Times bestseller Genevieve Cogman.
Editorial director Sophie Robinson acquired world all-languages from Lucienne Diver at The Knight Agency.
Cogman said: "As someone who grew up reading boarding school stories, and was at (co-ed) boarding school myself, it’s only a short step to imagining tutorials in demon summoning, cryptocurrency fraud and assassination – or worse. I look forward to having fun with the darker side of the liberal arts, and the full-blown disasters that any girls’ school can produce, all viewed through the eyes of a resolutely optimistic Latin teacher who’s trying to work out how she got into this in the first place."
Robinson said: "I’ve always wanted to know how to summon a demon and this trilogy – a brilliant blend of St Trinian’s meets Faust with a touch of PG Wodehouse – will be the perfect guide. With Genevieve’s trademark fast-paced plotting, sparkling and quirky characters, readers will be sending enrolment applications to Graynes before the final page."
Diver said: "Try as I might, I was never able to summon up magical powers, though I did once jump off a bookshelf in my youth, absolutely determined to fly. It’s been much safer to read about magic and myth through Genevieve’s work, and Girls’ School for Demon Summoning may just be her wittiest and most wonderful yet!"
Tor UK will publish Girls’ School for Demon Summoning on 15th October 2026.
Cogman is the author of the Invisible Library series and the bestselling Scarlet Revolution trilogy.
