Torva has landed neuroscientist and broadcaster Dr Hannah Critchlow’s How to Build a Twenty-First Century Brain: Future Proofing Ourselves to Live Better and Work Smarter.
Publisher Susanna Wadeson acquired world rights from Caroline Michel at PFD. Publication is scheduled for 2026.
How to Build a Twenty-First Century Brain "harness[es] the latest neuroscience from across the world to provide lessons in how to best play to our cognitive strengths".
Critchlow said: "This pragmatic and positive book, filled with advice, stories and brain exercises, will deploy cutting-edge neuroscience knowledge to help us maximise our brain capacity while also protecting and building on the innate human skills of empathy, creativity mixed with refined wisdom and taking the longer-term view. In writing this book I hope to empower readers to invest their brain energy wisely: to help them create better relationships and access their full cognitive potential, for their benefit and that of their descendants."
Wadeson added: "Hannah is a genius at disseminating complicated science to a lay audience, and the neuroscience she introduces here is entirely fascinating. In the face of AI, and all the other challenges of our 21st- century world, I’m profoundly grateful to her for drawing together this cutting-edge research and providing reassurance and advice so that we can all feel both informed and forearmed."
