Tramp Press has landed Where I End, an "exceptional" literary horror crossover from Sophie White.
Co-founders Sarah Davis-Goff and Lisa Coen commissioned Where I End from Tanera Simons at Darley Anderson. The novel will be published on 27th October 2022.
Where I End is a horror story following Aoileann, a teenager who has never left the island and whose mother is bed-bound, a survivor of a disaster no one will speak about. When Rachel and her baby move to the island, Aoileann finds a focus for her relentless love.
Coen commented: "We are thrilled to work with Sophie White on this exceptional, inventive novel of psychological and physical horror, which will captivate readers from its beautiful opening sentences to its shattering conclusion."
White added: "Where I End has been a strange book to write. Usually I am a meticulous planner, but this story remained stubbornly opaque despite my efforts to make notes and outline it. I gave up my usual methods, started writing and suddenly it was all there and I realised what the book was. It’s a story about daughterhood, about how our family creates our reality when we are children and how hard it is to break free of that. It’s a story about isolation and neglect and the dangerously intoxicating nature of love. I have always loved horror. In my teens, I read The Exorcist under the table in French class, devoured Stephen King and watched the ’Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ approximately 237 times. I am so excited to be working with Tramp Press and unleashing this weirdo book on the world."
