Transworld has acquired seven books from Kristan Higgins, whose novel Pack up the Moon has according to the publisher become “a TikTok sensation” since it was originally published by Berkley Trade in the US in June 2021.
Commissioning editor Alice Rodgers bought UK and Commonwealth rights for five backlist titles – Pack up the Moon, Good Luck with That, Life and Other Inconveniences, Always the Last to Know and Out of the Clear Blue Sky – from Christina Hogrebe at the Jane Rotrosen Agency; and UK and Commonwealth rights for two new novels from Kristan – A Little Ray of Sunshine and one further untitled novel – from Tawanna Sullivan at Berkley Trade, a division of Penguin Random House US.
Pack up the Moon, the hashtag of which — #PackUpTheMoon— has, according to the publisher, garnered 24 million views, will be published in paperback, e-book and audio by Transworld’s Bantam imprint in April 2023. The remaining backlist titles will be published in May 2023, and A Little Ray of Sunshine will follow in June 2023.
Rodgers said: “I am so thrilled to be publishing the UK editions of Kristan Higgins’s brilliant novels! Kristan has an amazing talent for tackling heart-wrenching themes in a way that is both uplifting and humorous. Her books are guaranteed to make you laugh and cry, and it is no wonder readers have fallen in love with them.”
Higgins said: “I’m so grateful to be able to reach UK readers (and those Down Under) through Transworld. These titles are so close to my heart, and I hope you’ll love reading them as much as I loved writing them.”
