Transworld has acquired two new novels from Andrea Mara.
Senior commissioning editor Finn Cotton bought world all-language rights including audio from Diana Beaumont at Marjacq. US rights were sold in a pre-empt to Jeramie Orton at Pamela Dorman Books in the US and to Bhavna Chauhan at Doubleday Canada. The first thriller in the new contract is scheduled for publication in spring 2025.
Mara’s latest novel, No One Saw a Thing, is her highest-selling title to date, the publisher said. It was shortlisted for the An Post Irish Crime Novel of the Year Award. Her next thriller, Someone in the Attic, publishes in June 2024.
Finn said: “Andrea Mara is a major talent and one of the fastest-growing crime writers in the UK. Working with her is a complete joy and a privilege. Her skilful plotting, creativity and cinematic storytelling have earnt her a legion of fans, and we are honoured to have the opportunity to help bring her books to even more readers over the coming years.”
Mara added: “It has been an absolute joy having my books published by Transworld for the last three years and I’m beyond thrilled to have the opportunity to continue this partnership. Finn Cotton and the wider team are so inspiring and yet so easy to work with and I’m very, very excited about our future plans. It will be a dream come true to see Someone in the Attic published in the US and Canada next year. I’m very lucky to have such a forward-thinking, supportive publisher, and a superstar agent, Diana Beaumont, who made it all happen.”
