Transworld has landed Beach Bodies, the “sizzling” revenge thriller from Sienna Sharpe, the pseudonymous name for Jenna Satterthwaite, who has published two novels with HarperCollins US.
Deputy publishing director Thorne Ryan acquired world rights from Lauren Bieker at FinePrint Literary. Transworld will publish Beach Bodies as a lead début under the Bantam imprint in summer 2025.
“I am delighted that Sienna has found such a great home for her UK début with Transworld,” said Bieker. “I have had the pleasure of working with her for several years now and I’m so excited that, with Thorne’s enthusiastic vision for Beach Bodies, many more readers will get to discover the wonder that is her writing.”
Pitched as Bella Mackie meets Emily Henry, Beach Bodies follows Lily Lennox, who leaves her successful business behind every summer to work as a lifeguard on a Caribbean island. Fortunately for her, no one seems to notice the mysterious deaths that occur every time she visits the island.
The synopsis continues: “Lily always does her best not to attract attention – after all, if your mission is murder, it’s best not to draw suspicious eyes. But this year, (very attractive) guest Daniel Black is asking a few too many inconvenient questions. Can she manage her growing attraction towards him at the same time as getting away with murder?”
Ryan said: “I’ve been looking for a summer ‘thromance’ for a long time now, and Beach Bodies is that and so much more. Sienna’s writing combines a dark, witty voice with both a twisty, thrilling plot and a sparkling romance, all while tackling complex themes with depth and delicacy.”
Sharpe added: “I’m so thrilled at the enthusiasm Transworld has brought to my UK début. It was fascinating to explore the concept of justice through the characters of Lily and Daniel, who care so passionately about it, but from completely opposite sides. I hope people find my summery revenge thriller-romance as deliciously escapist and fun to read as I found it to write!”
