S J Watson is publishing a new novel with Transworld in August, Final Cut, about a documentary film-maker who starts to uncover a seaside community's "dark and extraordinary secret" .
The new novel will be published by Transworld in hardback, e-book and audio on 6th August 2020.
It follows the author's second psychological thriller, Second Life, and debut, Before I Go to Sleep. His debut has now sold over six million copies worldwide, according to Transworld, and was adapted into the 2014-released film starring Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth. The books have been translated into 38 languages worldwide.
The new thriller, Final Cut, centres on documentary film-maker Alex and her trip to Blackwood Bay, a place changed from the buzzing seaside destination it once was. "Now ravaged by the effects of dwindling tourism and economic downturn, it’s a ghost town and the local community is deeply suspicious of her intentions. But then she starts to uncover their dark and extraordinary secret," the synopsis reads.
Frankie Gray, publishing director at Transworld, called it "clever and unputdownable", enthusing: "Final Cut marries the psychological intrigue and insight that made his name with Before I Go to Sleep with the claustrophobia and intensity of a sinister seaside community – it’s surprising and extraordinary."
Watson said: "The challenge I set myself with all my writing is to write my best book yet, and to create something that fans will love and really want to share with others. I can’t wait to share Final Cut with readers everywhere."
