Transworld has signed a two-book deal with crime author Lesley Kara.
Fiction publisher Sarah Adams bought UK and Commonwealth rights from Amanda Preston from LBA Books Agency. Transworld imprint Bantam Press will publish Who Did You Tell? on 9th January 2020. The final two titles in the deal will be released in 2021 and 2022.
Kara said: I’m delighted to have this chance to continue working with Sarah Adams and the Transworld team. Their passion and support for my first two books has made the experience of being published an absolute joy, and I can’t wait to start the whole process again!’
Kara's debut novel The Rumour (Bantam Press) has sold 15,887 copies in hardback and 25,704 in paperback, according to Nielsen, with rights sold in 17 territories. The Rumour was a Sunday Times Hardback and Paperback Top Ten Bestseller.
Adams added: “Lesley burst onto the thriller scene with The Rumour. The reception from readers has been phenomenal. Lesley tantalisingly explores the dangers of shared secrets and careless whispers, and combines addictive writing with the kind of brilliantly twisty storytelling that gets readers’ tongues wagging too! We can’t wait to release her superb second novel Who Did You Tell? in January 2020. And now, what a joy to be planning the long term future with Lesley and Amanda.”
