Transworld has bought four more Jack Reacher thrillers by Lee Child and Andrew Child taking the duo’s publishing up to 2028.
Larry Finlay, outgoing m.d., and Sarah Adams, fiction and brand publisher, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Richard Pine and Kim Witherspoon at Inkwell Management, with Darley Anderson handling translation rights. The first title in the new deal will be published in 2024 and will be the 29th in the series, with the fourth title scheduled for 2028.
Adams said: “It has been a highlight of my career to work with Lee and Andrew Child to bring four fantastic Reacher thrillers to market. I could not be happier to now announce that Transworld has agreed a partnership with Lee and Andrew for four more. How reassuring to know that Reacher will be successfully righting wrongs, and serving his own particular brand of justice, for a long while to come.”
Lee Child said: “I’m delighted that Reacher will live on, and I can’t think of a better or more talented pair of hands than Andrew’s to steer the books from here, just as he has for the past four titles. But I won’t be far away — we’re good friends, we see a lot of each other, the same things intrigue us, appal us and amuse us, so I’m sure I’ll still be involved, hopefully not as a backseat driver, but at least as a long-range sat-nav, to help out where I can.”
Andrew Child said: “On behalf of fellow Reacher fans everywhere it’s an honour and a privilege to continue to be entrusted with the future of the series. As Lee will still be involved – even at a slightly greater distance – I can look forward to plenty of coffee-fuelled discussions about Reacher’s upcoming adventures which I’m certain will make the new books as enjoyable and authentic as ever.”
Finlay said: “What an enduring and hugely rewarding partnership Transworld and Reacher have enjoyed across three decades. It’s been an enormous privilege and pleasure to have been part of the Reacher journey from the very beginning. I know that Sarah and the whole team here will continue to publish Reacher with energy, power and unrivalled success.”
