Transworld Publishers has snapped up three new novels by Denzil Meyrick.
Editorial director Finn Cotton bought world all language rights, including audio, from Jo Bell at Bell Lomax Moreton. The first novel in this new deal, The Christmas Stocking Murders, will publish in hardback in autumn 2024, featuring Inspector Frank Grasby. "It’s a dazzling, atmospheric murder mystery, set in 1950s Yorkshire, written with Meyrick’s trademark humour and wit," the synopsis says.
The second novel in the new contract is described as a "gripping contemporary thriller that sees the long-awaited return of DCI Daley". Publishing in Spring 2025 in hardback, it will be the twelfth book in the series.
Meyrick’s first novel with Transworld, Murder at Holly House, was published in Autumn 2023. His DCI Daley series is being adapted for TV by Fudge Park, with the author as an executive producer on the project. "Working with Finn and the team at Transworld has been as refreshing as it has been productive," he said. "I am excited by the prospect of publishing the twelfth Daley novel next year. I just know you’ll love it."
Cotton added: "Working with Meyrick is a joy, and I’m delighted that we’ll be publishing these three new novels. DCI Jim Daley is making his return in 2025, twelve years after he first appeared in Whisky From Small Glasses [Polygon], and this new book promises to be something very special. Daley is arrested for murder, and the only person who can save him is his old friend Brian Scott. It’s Meyrick at his very best."
