Transworld has snapped up another two new novels from Andrea Mara.
Finn Cotton, senior commissioning editor, bought world all language rights, including audio, from Diana Beaumont at Marjacq. The first book in this new deal will be published in August 2023. Both novels are as yet untitled.
Mara’s previous novel, All Her Fault, was her first book to be published in the UK and internationally and was shortlisted for the 2021 An Post Irish Crime Book of the Year Award. It was optioned by Carnival and is currently in development for TV adaptation. Her next book, Hide and Seek, a story about a child going missing in a sleepy Dublin suburb, is out in August. Transworld said it would support the publication with a major marketing and publicity campaign.
Cotton said: “Andrea is one of the most talented crime novelists to emerge in recent years. Her stories are always incredibly suspenseful and original. She creates page-turning thrillers with unexpected twists and relatable, intriguing characters. It’s an absolute joy to be her editor and to play a part in getting her books into the hands of readers around the globe. I look forward to seeing what we can do with these two new novels and where we can take her brand over the coming years.”
Beaumont added: “It’s been fantastic to see the phenomenal success of All Her Fault, the exciting plans for Hide and Seek coming to fruition and I look forward, with this new deal in place, to seeing Andrea becoming the household name she deserves to be. Working with Finn and the rest of the team at Transworld – who are so passionate, collaborative and ambitious – is a real pleasure for us both.”
Mara said: “It’s almost two years exactly since Transworld bought Hide And Seek and All Her Fault and the experience since then has been absolutely incredible – it’s been a joy to see All Her Fault in the Sunday Times and Irish Times top 10, and to work together with Finn and all the team on Hide And Seek, gearing up for publication in August. Signing with Transworld has been a dream come true and I’m absolutely thrilled to be working with Finn and the team again for my next books.”
