Crime writer Denzil Meyrick is moving to Transworld, after the publisher acquired two new novels in an exclusive deal.
Senior commissioning editor Finn Cotton bought world rights to Murder at Holly House and one untitled novel from Jo Bell at Bell Lomax Moreton.
Publishing in hardback in October 2023, Murder at Holly House is a Christmas murder mystery set in a Yorkshire village in 1952, centred around the protagonist Inspector Frank Grasby. Transworld described the title as “a puzzling whodunnit and a thrilling, humorous journey through a dangerous country in the fall-out from the Second World War”.
Cotton said of the acquisitions: “I have long been a fan of Denzil’s brilliant stories, so I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with him at the start of this exciting new stage in his career. His darkly humorous, atmospheric, page-turning novels have earned him a huge following and critical acclaim. We can’t wait to bring his writing to even more readers.”
Meyrick added: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining the Transworld family. Finn is so collaborative, enthusiastic, bursting with ideas. As a writer, this is the kind of move one dreams about. I know that he and the brilliant team at Transworld will take my writing to ever greater heights.”
