Trapeze to publish Instapoet Nikita Gill

Trapeze is publishing Nikita Gill’s poetry collection Wild Embers.  

Gill is a British-Indian writer and poet living in the south of England who has become one of the UK’s top "Instapoets", amassing over 128k followers since 2015. Her poems, on topics of passion, identity, empowerment and femininity, have been written displayed on placards during the international women’s marches and transformed into tattoos.

The collection, comprising mostly unseen poetry and prose, will be her first book to be published in the UK. Emma Smith, commissioning editor at Trapeze, bought world all-language rights directly from the author, to publish the collection in November 2017 in trade paperback.

Smith said: “Poetry is firmly in the spotlight, thanks to the likes of Rupi Kaur, Kate Tempest and Hollie McNish, and I am now absolutely thrilled to be bringing Nikita to the Trapeze list; she is an exciting talent whose words are both beautiful and important. Exploring themes of empowerment, identity, love and freedom, this will be a superb collection from a rapidly growing online star. We couldn’t be happier to be publishing Nikita for a huge new mainstream audience.”
